Services Offered
Therapy is a place and opportunity to receive personalized, non-judgmental, unbiased support, a place to learn new coping tools and/or to work through past and present painful or difficult experiences and issues. I offer services to adults and adolescents.
Individual Diagnostic Intake Interview: The individual diagnostic intake takes place in the first to second 50-minute appointments and includes an overview of the therapy process, a guided formal interview, and the beginning of the development of therapeutic goals.
Individual 50-minute Therapy Session: This is the typical therapy session, during which we are continuing to develop and work toward the achievement of therapy goals. Sessions can be scheduled weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or as needed.
Substance Abuse assessment: A substance abuse assessment can be conducted in generally one to two sessions in which a guided formal interview takes place gathering background information, detailed past and present substance use history and formalized questionnaires are completed. Once a release of information is signed, a report may be provided to the referring agency such as school counselor, Employment Assistance Program, or legal system representative

In order for treatment to be most successful, an active partnership between the client and therapist is fostered. At times, the therapeutic process may include experiencing uncomfortable feelings and/or revisiting unpleasant life events. As clients work through this difficult material, treatment often leads to the relief of symptoms, alleviation of pain and the facilitation of personal growth. Jay supports his clients in exploring difficult experiences by creating a safe and supportive setting. Therapy may range from short-term problem solving techniques to a more long-term alliance spanning several years. I offer individualized treatment that utilizes client input and direction.
